Biotech Plasma likely to save thousand crore taka

A China-based multi-national company, Oryx Biotech is about to set up a plasma fractionation plant in Bangabandhu Hi-tech Park locates on a piece of 25 acres of land at Kaliakoir of Gazipur District. The construction of its plasma fractionation plant began in Block-II of Summit Technopolis in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the state Minister of ICT laid the foundation stone of the plant on Monday. David Bo, Managing Director of China Oryx Limited graced the occasion with his virtual message while Liu Zhennhua, the Chinese Commercial Counselor in Bangladesh was present. Hosne Ara Begum, the Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority, Kazi Shakil, Chairman, Oryx Biotech Limited of SUMMIT group, Fadia Khan, Director, SUMMIT Technopolis, ICT Division senior secretary NM Zeaul Alam nad  Summit Technopolis managing director Abu Reza Khan were present in the occasion. ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP at the ground-breaking event said- The Oryx project will open an era of the biotech industry and open the door for other such hi-tech projects for Bangladesh. The ICT Minister expects that the plant will save 1000 crore taka as the country would not need to import in this sector. Oryx Biotech is going to invest 300 million dollars in setting up the plant and about 2000 science and IT graduates are expected to be employed, informs Palak. Through this plant, Bangladesh enters into the world of biotech plasma technology and paves the path of manufacturing life-saving medicines in the country. Drawing the attention of researchers and entrepreneurs Palak opines that Biotech has the potential to turn into a trillion-dollar industry in the future. Oryx Bio-Tech chairman Kazi Shakil said, ‘The Oryx plant will produce life-saving therapeutics that are currently produced only in the most advanced countries of the world.’
